St John Urgent Care helps patients receive timely care for urgent but non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, without needing a visit to the Emergency Department. Providing access to extended hours at St John Urgent Care centres across Perth and surrounding areas will mean patients can receive care for urgent but non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, without the need to visit the emergency department.

St John Urgent Care can treat the below health concerns:

  • Insect and animal bites

How do I access no-gap Urgent Care consults at St John Urgent Care?

Simply show your HIF membership card (or digital card) at any eligible St John Urgent Care centre and we’ll cover the cost of your Urgent Care consultation. We encourage members to let reception know they are with HIF to ensure no-gap Urgent Care consultation coverage.

What if I didn't bring my membership card?

Didn’t bring your physical membership card? Don’t worry. You can easily access your digital card whenever you need via the HIF member app.

Step 1 – Make sure you’ve registered at HIF’s Online Member Centre (OMC) and set up your password.

  • If you haven’t registered for the OMC, you can do this directly through our website. You’ll need your membership number and the email registered to your account to login and set your password. If you’re already registered via the OMC, you can use the same login details for the app.

Step 2 - Download or re-open the HIF app and use the same OMC login details and password to open the app.

Step 3 - Press ‘Digital card’ at the bottom of the homepage. Present this at reception on your next visit to a St John Urgent Care centre.

The HIF app does more than store your digital card, you’ll be able to view your policy details and limits, update personal details and make and track claims on the go!

When should I attend an Emergency Department or call Triple Zero (000)?

St John Urgent Care is NOT an Emergency Department.

Always dial Triple Zero (000) or go directly to the Emergency Department for serious symptoms such as:

  • Heart attack/chest pains
  • Inability to breathe
  • Collapse/seizure/stroke
  • Heavy bleeding
  • Serious head or neck injury
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Severe stomach pain
  • Severe burns
  • Bleeding in pregnancy
  • Serious mental health problem
  • Poisoning or serious allergic reactions

What’s not covered by HIF at St John Urgent Care Centre?

HIF covers the out-of-pocket cost for Urgent Care consultations at St John Urgent Care centres in Perth. However, HIF does not cover other available services at St John Urgent Care centres, such as GP appointments and dental treatment. Your doctor may also recommend you purchase medicine or medical devices associated with your treatment such as crutches, moon boot, etc. These items are not covered within the consultation fee.

Do all Urgent Care Centres charge a consultation fee?

Most St John Urgent Care centres, including those in Perth, charge a consultation fee for Urgent Care services. This fee is fully covered for eligible HIF members who present a valid membership card when visiting St John’s Urgent Care facilities.
